Salman Khan returns to the ‘Koffee With Karan’ couch as the first guest of its final season, with Karan Johar revisiting the question that sparked a memorable exchange between them years ago.

The ‘Koffee With Karan’ couch is set for another round of unfiltered banter, and Salman Khan is making sure the show's final season begins with a memorable moment. In a newly released promo, host Karan Johar brings up a question he first asked the superstar more than a decade ago: “Are you still a virgin?”

Salman, who appears as the first guest of the ninth and final season, responds with a playful “Control, my brother, control,” mimicking actor Ravi Kishan. The exchange brings back memories of his earlier appearance on the celebrity chat show, where the same question had left audiences talking.

The episode is set to stream on JioHotstar on October 14, according to the announcement.

The latest promo promises plenty of teasing between the filmmaker and the actor. Introducing Salman as a “wise” man, Karan refers to the superstar's now-viral remark, “It's done, bro.” The line recalls Salman's social media post urging activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his fast during the Gen Z protest in July.

Salman, meanwhile, wastes no time turning the spotlight on his host. When Karan brings up the show's impending end, the actor jokes about launching his own chat show, ‘Koffee With Salman’. He also pokes fun at Karan for persuading celebrities to appear by telling them that every season could be the last.

However, the filmmaker soon steers the conversation towards their shared history.

Salman Khan's ‘Koffee With Karan’ virginity confession

The question about Salman's virginity is a callback to his appearance on ‘Koffee With Karan’ Season 4 in 2013. During that episode, Karan had asked the actor whether he was a virgin. Salman famously replied, “Yes, I'm a virgin,” adding that he was saving himself for marriage.

Karan later clarified that Salman had delivered the answer with a straight face as a joke rather than as a serious confession. The moment became one of the more memorable exchanges from the actor's appearance on the show.

More than a decade later, the promo suggests that the question remains fair game between the two, with Salman once again responding in his characteristic teasing style.

The actor also borrows a line from Karan's directorial debut, ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’, telling the filmmaker, “Tusi na jao, Karan” (Please don't go, Karan), in a playful nod to the show's farewell.

There is also a more reflective side to the conversation. When Karan compliments Salman on appearing calm and composed, the actor responds, “The advice I gave to people, there came a point of time when I had to follow my own advice.”

Karan Johar prepares to bid farewell to ‘Koffee With Karan’

Karan announced the ninth season as the show's final chapter on September 30, sharing an emotional video that looked back on his 22-year association with the series.

The filmmaker recalled how the idea first took shape in June 2004, when he told his father, producer Yash Johar, that he wanted to host an informal chat show featuring two celebrities. His father questioned who would pay him to sit and talk to his friends, Karan recalled.

Yash Johar passed away on June 26, 2004. Karan shot the first episode of ‘Koffee With Karan’ on August 16 that year, beginning a journey that would span eight completed seasons and 161 episodes before the final season.

Looking back at the show's legacy, Karan acknowledged the relationships, controversies and candid revelations that became synonymous with its celebrity couch. From conversations involving friends and former lovers to the nepotism debate that followed him for years, the filmmaker said the show had given him a great deal.

He also reflected on how ‘Koffee With Karan’ became a regular source of headlines, with celebrity remarks often sparking conversations well beyond the episodes themselves.

Who else will appear on the final season?

While Salman is the first guest, reports suggest that the final season could feature several other prominent names from the film industry. The reported guest list includes Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Jaya Bachchan, along with Aamir Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Farhan Akhtar, among others.
