Music legend AR Rahman had a proud-parent moment recently as his daughter, Raheema, graduated from the prestigious Glion Institute of Higher Education, specializing in Hospitality, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation.

Over the weekend, Rahman took to Instagram to share a series of heartwarming photos from Raheema’s graduation ceremony, along with a touching message for his daughter. “My little princess, Raheema, has graduated from the Glion Institute of Higher Education with a focus on Hospitality, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation. #proud-dad #womenleaders #alhamdulillah,” he wrote, expressing his joy and admiration.

Rahman married his wife, Saira Banu, in 1995. The couple also has a daughter, Khatija, and a son, Ameen.

Milestone arrives after separation from wife

However, this proud milestone comes during a delicate time for the Rahman family. Earlier in 2024, Rahman and Saira Banu announced their separation after nearly three decades of marriage. In a statement issued by Saira’s lawyer, Vandana Shah, the couple cited “significant emotional strain” as the reason behind their decision to part ways.

Rahman also addressed the separation on his official X account, sharing a poetic reflection on the end of their relationship:
“We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy as we walk through this fragile chapter.”
