Kochi: Voting has concluded in the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) election, with 298 members casting their ballots out of 506 eligible voters.

This year’s poll was overshadowed by controversies and allegations, including a complaint against Shwetha Menon and separate accusations against Kukku Parameswaran.

Organisers made significant efforts to encourage participation in voting from senior actors. Among those who turned out were Mohanlal, Janardhanan, Vatsala Menon, Sreenivasan, Salim Kumar, Indrans, Sreeraman, Mallika Sukumaran and Kollam Thulasi.

Former AMMA president Mohanlal expressed hope that members would unite to deliver good governance.

Meanwhile, Baburaj said he would quit acting if it were proven that he was involved in the complaint against Shwetha Menon.
