‘Blasting music at 2am is not Bhakti’: Allu Sirish calls out loud DJ music at Hyderabad temple

Actor Allu Sirish has urged Hyderabad Police to look into complaints over loud music allegedly being played at a Hanuman temple in Vinobha Nagar, Shaikpet, till 2-3 am, saying that playing music at such hours cannot be considered an expression of devotion.

Sirish, who identified himself as a resident of Aparna One in Shaikpet, raised the issue in a post on X, saying the loud music had continued for the past few days even after the Ganesh festival celebrations had ended.

“Blasting music with DJ setup at 2am is not Bhakti,” Sirish later wrote while responding to users who criticised him over the complaint and linked it to religious devotion. He clarified that he was himself religious and regularly prayed to Lord Hanuman.

“Friends.. I am religious myself and pray to Lord Hanuman. Blasting music with DJ setup at 2am is not Bhakti. What I complained is abt civic sense not devotion. Thank you for understanding..” he said.

In his earlier post, Sirish tagged Hyderabad City Police and said he had already complained to the Film Nagar Police Station about the noise from the temple. He said residents had initially been asked to tolerate the situation until September 25 because of the Ganesh idol immersion festivities.

According to Sirish, however, the festival had ended but the loud music continued late into the night. He said the noise was affecting several residents, including elderly people, children and working professionals.

“Many elders, children and working ppl in our society and disturbed by it and made many complaints in the past. But no action was taken,” he wrote, urging the police to look into the matter.

The complaint came shortly after Hyderabad's 48-hour Ganesh idol immersion procession concluded peacefully. Hyderabad City Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar said the procession ended without any untoward incident, with elaborate arrangements made for the smooth conduct of the festival.
