'I’m law-abiding; Stampede was beyond my control,' says Allu Arjun after jail release | WATCH

Actor Allu Arjun was granted interim bail by the Telangana High Court on Friday in connection with the tragic Sandhya Theatre incident and was released from the Chanchalguda Central Jail in Hyderabad early Saturday morning. The actor was granted bail for a period of four weeks and was freed after spending a night in jail.

Following his release, Allu Arjun reached home and once again expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased woman, who lost her life in a tragic accident during a screening of 'Pushpa 2' at Sandhya Theatre on December 4.

The incident had occurred when large crowds gathered to see the actor, resulting in a tragic mishap that led to the woman’s death and her son’s hospitalisation.

Speaking to the media, the actor expressed his gratitude to his fans and supporters.

"I thank everyone for the love and support. I want to thank all my fans. There is nothing to worry about. I am fine," the actor said.

"I have been to the theatre more than 30 times in my life, and nothing like this has ever happened before. It was an unfortunate accident. I will be there with the family and support them in whatever way I can. We can never cover the loss, but I will do everything I can to help," Allu arjun said.

The actor further stated that he will do the needful to cooperate with the case.

"I am a law-abiding citizen. I respect the law and will cooperate with them. I will do whatever is necessary. Very importantly, I’d like to once again give my condolences to the family. It is very unfortunate that they went to watch a film, and due to an accident, there was a loss of life. We’re very sorry for whatever happened. It was purely out of my control," he said.

Allu Arjun also thanked his fans and supporters for their unwavering support during the difficult time. 

Before his release, heavy security was deployed outside the Chanchalguda Central Jail to manage the situation. Allu Arjun’s father-in-law, Kancharla Chandrasekhar Reddy, was also present at the jail to receive him upon his release. 

The actor had been sent to judicial custody by a lower court earlier, but the ruling was challenged by his legal team in the Telangana High Court, which granted him bail after he furnished a bond of Rs 50,000. Despite receiving the bail order from the High Court, the actor was not immediately released, which led to some frustration from his lawyer, Ashok Reddy.

Speaking to reporters, Ashok Reddy expressed his displeasure, stating, "They received the order copy from the High Court, but despite that, they didn’t release the accused (Allu Arjun). They will have to answer for this; this is illegal detention, and we will take legal action. As of now, he has been released."

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, confirmed late Thursday night that the actor would be released the following morning.

This incident occurred on December 4, when Allu Arjun and the *Pushpa 2* team visited Sandhya Theatre for a screening. Crowds had gathered in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the star, and the chaos that ensued led to the tragic death of a 35-year-old woman. The incident has since drawn significant attention, with authorities clarifying a letter circulating in the media requesting police bandobast for the release of Pushpa 2 on December 4 and 5.
