Actor Allu Arjun arrested in Pushpa 2 stampede case | VIDEO

Hyderabad: Tollywood actor Allu Arjun has been arrested by the Hyderabad police in connection with the death of a woman during a stampede at Sandhya Theatre ahead of the premiere of his film 'Pushpa 2:The Rule' on December 4. 

The victim, 35-year-old Revathi, died after being rushed to Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital, while her son, Shreethej, was receiving treatment.

The stampede happened when Allu Arjun, accompanied by his personal security, visited the theatre, causing chaos as people rushed to enter.

The case was registered at Chikkadpally police station on December 5 on a complaint by the deceased woman's husband. Three others, including theatre owner M. Sandeep, senior manager M. Nagaraju, and lower balcony in-charge Gandhakam Vijay Chander, were also arrested. 

The police have filed a case against Allu Arjun, his security team, and the theatre management under Sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt), read with 3(5) of the BNS Act.

The actor had approached Telangana High Court seeking orders to quash the FIR charged on him.

According to the police, there was no intimation from theatre management or the actor's team about his visit at the theatre. The theatre management did not provide any additional provisions with security team to manage the crowd. Reports also suggest that Allu Arjun was advised against making a surprise appearance.

The actor following the incident had announced an assistance of Rs 25 lakh for the deceased's family on December 6 and said that he is 'deeply heartbroken'. The actor had also assured the grieving family that he would meet them personally and extend every possible help.

He also promosed to take care of the medical expenses of the boy, whose conditon at present is critical. He had also penned a heartfelt note on Twitter.
