Alia Bhatt blends high fashion and heritage in mesmerising Cannes look

Cannes: Bollywood star Alia Bhatt once again captured global attention as she arrived on the red carpet in a “dreamy peach gown” for the opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival 2026. The actor’s striking fashion choices and graceful presence underscored her growing influence on the world’s most prestigious film stage.
The ‘Jigra’ actress made a bold style statement in a sculpted, corseted silhouette by Tamara Ralph that featured a plunging neckline, sweeping train and an ethereal chiffon scarf trailing behind her. Representing L’Oréal Paris at the festival, Bhatt’s ensemble blended high fashion with cinematic elegance.
Red carpet look
Bhatt, on the opening day of the film festival, stepped out in a blush pink custom Tamara Ralph haute couture cut-out gown paired with a flowing dupatta. The outfit drew attention on social media for its “serious Scandinavian scarf energy”, echoing a Western trend that sparked debate for its resemblance to the South Asian dupatta and discussions around cultural credit.
Bhatt’s red carpet look was elevated with exquisite jewellery from Amrapali’s Golconda Rose collection, a tribute to Jaipur’s renowned craftsmanship. The handcrafted white gold high-jewellery piece boasted 168.27 carats of rare pink coral, a central 5.53-carat Golconda Type 2A diamond, and 20 carats of finely set diamonds, adding a touch of regal sophistication.
To complement this, she chose earrings and rings by Chopard, marrying contemporary grace with timeless sparkle.
Taking to her Instagram to share glimpses of her opening night appearance, Bhatt greeted fans and photographers with warmth, showcasing every detail of her look. Prior to her red carpet entrance, she was spotted in another breathtaking couture creation that seemed inspired by watercolours in motion, an ensemble that exuded romantic charm and unmistakable cinematic flair.
Bhatt returned to Cannes for the second consecutive year as a global ambassador for L’Oréal Paris, following her much-anticipated debut in a custom Schiaparelli gown the previous year. This year’s festival opened on 12 May and will run until 23 May.
Evening look designed by Yash Patil
For her earlier appearance on the first evening, Bhatt embraced a soft, princess-core aesthetic in a couture piece by Yash Patil’s That Antique Piece. The gown featured a structured corset-style bodice with delicate straps and a soft sweetheart neckline, rendered in muted sage-green tones. Intricate botanical embroidery and a hand-painted homage to the French Riviera seamlessly blended into the voluminous skirt, evoking an artistic and dreamy vibe.
Styled with a loosely undone low bun, luminous skin, and subtle makeup, Bhatt kept the focus on the outfit’s craftsmanship. Neutral mules from Manolo Blahnik completed the ensemble, which she later shared on her Instagram.
