₹40 crore for 22 days? Akshay Kumar’s ‘Golmaal 5’ fee reportedly beats Ajay Devgn’s upfront pay

Akshay Kumar is reportedly being paid between ₹35 crore and ₹40 crore for his role in Golmaal 5, making it one of the biggest short-duration acting deals in recent Bollywood projects.

According to reports, the actor will shoot for only around 18 to 22 days for the film directed by Rohit Shetty. A source close to the development claimed that Akshay’s upfront fee is even higher than that of the film’s main lead, Ajay Devgn.

Why Ajay Devgn’s earnings may still be bigger

While Ajay Devgn is reportedly taking a lower upfront amount, reports suggest that the actor is working on a profit-sharing model for the film.

This means Ajay could eventually earn significantly more depending on the movie’s box office performance, satellite rights, streaming deals and overall revenue.

Profit-sharing arrangements have become increasingly common among top Bollywood stars, especially for large franchise films with strong commercial potential. Akshay Kumar joining the popular comedy franchise has already generated excitement among fans.

Rohit Shetty officially announced Golmaal 5 on his birthday earlier this year, while also teasing Akshay’s appearance as a “surprise package”. The filmmaker later shared behind-the-scenes visuals from the sets, revealing Akshay in a bald look that immediately grabbed attention online.

Shoot underway with original cast members

Earlier this month, Ajay Devgn confirmed that a new shooting schedule for the film had begun in Ooty.

The franchise’s familiar faces including Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Sharman Joshi, Shreyas Talpade and Kunal Kemmu are all returning for the fifth installment.

Rohit Shetty also recently recreated the iconic race car scene from Golmaal: Fun Unlimited featuring Arshad Warsi and Sharman Joshi, sparking nostalgia among longtime fans. The franchise began with Golmaal: Fun Unlimited and went on to become one of Bollywood’s most successful comedy series.

The later installments included Golmaal Returns, Golmaal 3 and Golmaal Again.

Over the years, the films have featured actors including Sanjay Mishra, Johnny Lever, Mukesh Tiwari and Vrajesh Hirjee. Apart from Golmaal 5, Akshay Kumar is also preparing for Welcome To The Jungle.

The actor recently shared a glimpse from the upcoming project, posting a picture from a jungle-themed set while dressed in a dark suit and sunglasses. The announcement quickly generated buzz among fans eager to see the actor return to another popular comedy franchise.
