Ajith Kumar’s mother Mohini Mani passes away at 85; Kamal Haasan pays tribute

Tamil actor and professional racer Ajith Kumar is mourning the loss of his mother, Mohini Mani, who passed away in Chennai on Saturday morning at the age of 85.

According to reports, Mohini had been suffering from age-related ailments and breathed her last at a private hospital in the city. She had been living in Chennai's Palavakkam. Her death comes 3 years after the passing of her husband, who also died at the age of 85.

Social media was flooded with condolence messages, with many fans expressing solidarity with the actor and offering prayers for his mother's soul.

Among the first to express their condolences was actor Kamal Haasan. Taking to his official X account, he wrote, “I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. Ajith Kumar’s mother, Mrs. Mohini Mani. I extend my heartfelt condolences to Ajith Kumar and his family, who are grieving the loss of their beloved mother.”

Ajith, who was reportedly in Dubai when he received the news, is said to have immediately returned to Chennai to be with his family.

The actor's charitable initiative, the Mohini Mani Foundation, was named in her honour. Through the foundation, Ajith has supported various social causes, including public hygiene, civic awareness and welfare activities.
