The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has demolished portions of actor Ajay Devgn’s bungalow in Mumbai’s Juhu area over alleged unauthorised construction, after the civic body’s stop-work notice was reportedly not followed.

The property, measuring 7,802 square feet, is situated in the Kapole Co-operative Housing Society in Juhu. According to the civic body, construction work was being carried out without the necessary municipal approvals.

The BMC issued a notice on September 10, 2026, under Section 354A of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, directing those responsible to stop the work immediately and submit the relevant documents and permissions.

However, the alleged construction continued despite the notice, prompting civic officials to intervene and remove the unauthorised portions of the structure. Visuals from the site showed officials using a hammer to break down sections of the construction.

Why did the BMC take action at Ajay Devgn’s bungalow?

According to the civic body, the work at the Juhu property included internal alterations, the installation of partition walls, modifications to windows and other structural changes. These activities were allegedly undertaken without the required permissions.

The September 10 notice called for an immediate halt to the construction and asked those responsible to produce valid documentation authorising the work.

The subsequent demolition targeted portions of the property that the civic body identified as unauthorised. The action relates to alleged breaches of municipal construction regulations at the actor’s residence.

Ajay Devgn faces scrutiny over advertisement

The development comes amid another controversy involving Devgn, who has drawn scrutiny over his appearance in an advertisement for Vimal Elaichi. The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued show-cause notices to the actor, along with Shah Rukh Khan and Tiger Shroff, over concerns that the advertisement could potentially function as surrogate promotion for a banned product.

Maharashtra FDA chief Tukaram Mundhe, popularly known as ‘Singham’, said the scrutiny was linked to concerns surrounding the possible promotion of a prohibited product through the advertisement.

‘Drishyam’ franchise crosses Rs 400 crore worldwide

Meanwhile, Devgn’s latest film, the third and final instalment in the ‘Drishyam’ franchise, has crossed the Rs 400 crore mark at the global box office.

Directed by Abhishek Pathak, the crime thriller was released in cinemas on October 2. The film has received largely positive reviews, with critics highlighting its performances, suspense and unexpected twists.
