After ‘Fukrey’, Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha finally romance each other on screen

After years of sharing screen space in the Fukrey franchise, real-life couple Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha are finally set to play romantic leads opposite each other for the first time. The actors have officially announced an untitled situational comedy set in Delhi, directed by Shashie Vermaa, with Kumud Mishra joining the cast in a pivotal role.
Backed by Screenwork Productions and Giriraj Productions, the film is scheduled to go on floors in the second half of 2026 and is targeting a theatrical release in April 2027.
Set against the vibrant and chaotic backdrop of Delhi, the film promises a blend of humour, relatable characters and social satire. While the makers have kept the plot under wraps, both lead actors have hinted that the story draws its strength from everyday life.
Sharing the announcement on Instagram, Ali Fazal wrote, "There's never just one side to a Delhi story. And that's exactly what makes this one worth telling." He described the project as "a comedy with a big heart and a sharp social satire at its core."
Speaking about working with Richa as his on-screen partner for the first time, Ali said the experience feels genuinely exciting despite the two having known each other professionally for years.
Richa Chadha shared a similar sentiment, saying the screenplay immediately appealed to her because it finds humour in ordinary situations while quietly commenting on society. She also revealed that returning to a Delhi-based story brought back memories from her early school years in the city.
"Ali and I have appeared in the same films before, but we've never explored a relationship like this on screen," she said.
Alongside the leads, veteran actor Kumud Mishra is expected to play a significant role.
On the work front, Ali Fazal was last seen in the drama series ‘Raakh’ and will next appear in ‘Mirzapur: The Movie’. Richa Chadha's most recent screen appearance was in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's ‘Heeramandi’, where she portrayed Lajwanti.
