At the 97th Academy Awards, Adam Sandler surprised everyone by wearing a casual sweatshirt and gym shorts. His laid-back look quickly went viral, with netizens drawing comparisons between Sandler’s outfit and the signature style of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The comparison stems from Zelenskyy’s well-known preference for simple, utilitarian clothing during his high-profile meetings, including his recent meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump at the Oval Office. 

The online reaction was swift, with users humorously dubbing Sandler’s outfit a “Zelenskyy move,” likening it to the Ukrainian leader's practical fashion choices, which have become symbolic of his leadership style.

A user wrote, "I haven't seen a single Oscar-nominated movie (as per usual) but I did look at the opening of the 97th Academy Awards
 just out of curiosity. Conan O'Brien did well and Adam Sandler did a Spoof of the Trump-Zelensky Oval Office Showdown. That's enough for me. Tuning out now!"

The comparison became even more poignant when recalling a memorable exchange between Zelenskyy and a reporter during his visit to the White House. A question posed by Brian Glenn, Chief White House Correspondent at Real America's Voice, about Zelenskyy's lack of formal attire, quickly went viral.

"Why don’t you wear a suit? Do you own a suit? A lot of Americans have a problem with you not respecting the dignity of the office," Glenn, wearing a traditional blue suit, asked the Ukrainian President.

Zelenskyy, ever the witty and humble figure, responded, "I will wear a costume after this war will finish. Maybe something like yours, maybe something better, I don't know. We will see. Maybe something cheaper."
