‘I have made the difficult decision…’: Unni Mukundan tenders resignation as AMMA treasurer

Actor Unni Mukundan has officially announced his resignation from the post of Treasurer of the actors association AMMA. Mukundan shared the news through a heartfelt note on his social media accounts, citing work pressure and mental health concerns as the main reasons behind his decision.

Mukundan was elected as the Treasurer of AMMA in June 2024, securing the position unopposed. However, in his recent post, the actor revealed that the demands of his work, particularly related to his commitments with the film ‘Marco’ and other projects, had taken a toll on his mental health. He stated that balancing his professional responsibilities with personal life had become overwhelming, prompting him to step down.

In his Facebook post, Mukundan expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve in this role and explained that while it had been an exciting and rewarding experience, the increasing pressures of his career left him with no choice but to focus on his well-being and his family's needs.

He assured that he would continue to serve in the role until a successor was appointed, ensuring a smooth transition. Mukundan also extended his thanks to the AMMA members for their trust and support during his tenure.

His full statement reads:

I hope this message finds you well. After much thought and reflection, I have made the difficult decision to step down from my role as the Treasurer (AMMA).

I have truly enjoyed my time in this position, and it has been both an exciting and rewarding experience. However, in recent months, the increasing demands of my work, particularly with ‘Marco’ and other production commitments, have significantly impacted my mental health. Balancing these responsibilities, along with the pressures of my professional life, has become overwhelming. I now realize the importance of stepping back to focus on my own well-being and that of my family’s.

While I have always given my best in serving this role, I recognize that I can no longer fulfill my duties effectively given the growing commitments ahead. It is with a heavy heart that I submit my resignation. I will, however, continue to serve until a new member is appointed, ensuring a smooth transition.

I am deeply grateful for the trust and support I have received during my tenure, and I wish my successor every success in carrying forward the responsibilities of this role. Thank you all for your understanding and continued support.
