Mass resignation unnecessary, casteism prevails in the organisation, says Shammy Thilakan

Kochi: Actor Shammy Thilakan, son of legendary actor late Thilakan, who had faced a ban from AMMA, says that perhaps his father might feel that poetic justice has been served. While speaking to reporters about the mass resignation of AMMA executive committee members, including president Mohanlal, Shammy said that the mass resignation was a decision taken in haste and should have been avoided.
“Only those who are under the cloud of suspicion should have resigned. As a founding committee member of the organisation, I view this development with a heart weighed down by sadness,” Shammy said.
“Mohanlal should have responded to this situation. I am also a victim of his silence. I have nothing more to say about Mohanlal’s silence,” he said.
“Why did all the executive members resign? Don’t they have any obligations to the members who elected them?” Shammy asked.
“The organisation should have the courage to act tough against wrongdoers. In the past, I had tried to raise my voice against the bad practices in the organisation, but a certain section had succeeded in suppressing my voice,” he said.
“My father might feel justified now. I am not sure. But, as an individual, I don’t feel any poetic justice has been served. Personally, nobody has done anything against me. However, they did injustice to my father. There are casteist elements in this organisation. From the beginning, casteism has been playing a role. I can provide proof of this. I am not saying this for the first time,” Shammy said.
“Let the new generation take over the organisation. That is the need of the hour,” Shammy said.
