‘Drishyam 3’ officially announced: Mohanlal confirms third instalment of hit franchise

Thiruvananthapuram: In a major update for fans of the 'Drishyam' movie franchise, the filmmakers have officially announced a third installment. However, details about the cast and release date have not been disclosed.

Mohanlal took to social media to confirm the news, sharing a post that read, “The past never stays silent… Drishyam 3 confirmed!” He also posted a photo of himself with director Jeethu Joseph and Producer Antony Perumbavoor.

The Drishyam franchise, directed by Jeethu Joseph, has been one of the most celebrated thriller series in Indian cinema, known for its gripping storyline and unpredictable twists.

Drishyam 1 & 2

The first film, Drishyam (2013), became a game-changer in Malayalam cinema, blending family drama with a crime thriller. The story follows Georgekutty, a middle-class man who outsmarts the police to protect his family after they become embroiled in an accidental crime. The film received widespread acclaim and was remade in multiple languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada.

The sequel, Drishyam 2 (2021), continued the saga, picking up six years after the events of the first film. As the police re-open the case, Georgekutty, now a theatre owner, finds himself in a new battle of wits to protect his family’s secret. The film, which released directly on Amazon Prime Video, was praised for its brilliant writing and unexpected twists.
