'Ottal' Vasudevan passes away

Alappuzha: 'Ottal' fame Kumarakam Vasudevan, 76, passed away on Thursday.

He was under treatment at Kottayam Medical College Hospital due to high blood pressure.

Vasudevan played a leading role in Jayaraj's 'Ottal' movie released in 2014. He was the grandfather ('Vallyapachayi') of the boy who was the central character of the film.

Jayaraj invited him to act in his film when he met Vasudevan coincidentally. Vasudevan was catching fish at Vembanad lake when the director met him.

Produced by K Mohan and Vinod Vijayan, Ottal bagged the national award for best environment film.

Vasudevan has also acted in 'Bhayanakam' and 'Oru Kattil Oru Paykappal'.
