Thrissur (Kerala): Acclaimed actress and National Film Award winner Urvashi lauded veteran actor T G Ravi for his humility and consistency throughout his 50-year film career, speaking at a special felicitation event in his hometown Poochatti here.

“Receiving love and respect from one’s own people is a rare honour,” she said, adding that Ravi’s simplicity remained unchanged whether he was active in cinema, took a break or made a grand return. “That grace is what makes him truly inspiring,” she noted.

The two-day event, titled ‘Ravinadanam 50’, was inaugurated by Kerala Revenue Minister K Rajan, who described Ravi, along with his son and grandson who also act, as the pride of the local community.

Actor Vijayaraghavan echoed Urvashi’s sentiments, cautioning, “if praise leads to ego, it will reflect in an actor’s performance.” T G Ravi, he said, remained grounded — a quality that has shaped his versatile and enduring success in Malayalam cinema.

The celebration saw participation from actors Indrans, Sadiq, Irshad, Ramu, director Kamal, football legend I M Vijayan, percussionist Peruvanam Kuttan Marar, music composer Vidyadharan, lyricist B K Harinarayanan, District Panchayat president V S Prince, and many others.

Nedumthara Grama Panchayat president Sreevidya Rajesh presided over the function, with actor Jayaraj Warrier was the moderator. The event included a musical evening by Sithara Krishnakumar and a celebratory procession from Murkkanikkara to the event venue. The festivities will continue on Sunday.
