'Aamir Khan is becoming brand ambassador for Love Jihad': BJP minister's remark sparks row | WATCH

The marriage of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has triggered a political controversy after Maharashtra minister and BJP leader Nitesh Rane accused the actor of becoming a "brand ambassador for Love Jihad".
Speaking to IANS, Rane said it was not his place to decide who should attend whose wedding, but argued that Aamir Khan's personal decisions should prompt discussion among his fans and the wider Hindu community.
"It is not for me to decide who should attend whose wedding. However, the time has truly come for Hindu youth, who regard him as a celebrity, to reflect on what kind of inspiration they should draw from this. I believe that when celebrities make such decisions regarding their personal lives, Hindu society ought to give it some thought. Aamir Khan is effectively becoming a brand ambassador for 'Love Jihad'," Rane told IANS.
The BJP leader also suggested that Hindu youth should carefully consider which celebrities they choose to admire and support, saying public figures have a strong influence on society.
Rane's remarks came days after reports that Aamir Khan had married his longtime partner, Gauri Spratt, in a private ceremony at his residence in Mumbai's Bandra earlier this month. The wedding was attended by close family members and a small group of friends.
Gauri Spratt, who is originally from Bengaluru, has worked in the beauty and wellness industry and was previously associated with salon chain BBlunt as a partner and director. She is also reported to be involved with projects related to Aamir Khan Productions.
According to reports, Aamir and Gauri have known each other for nearly 25 years but reconnected in 2024 through the actor's cousin, Nuzhat Khan. Aamir introduced Gauri publicly as his partner during his 60th birthday celebrations in 2025.
The actor was previously married to Reena Dutta from 1986 to 2002 and filmmaker Kiran Rao from 2005 until their separation in 2021.
Aamir Khan has not publicly responded to Rane's remarks.
