'I am very romantic, ask both my wives,' says Aamir Khan

Mumbai: Bollywood star Aamir Khan recently expressed his belief that he is the ultimate romantic, referencing his two marriages as evidence. Speaking at the launch of the trailer for his son Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s upcoming romantic film Loveyapa, Aamir opened up about his views on love and romance.

During the Mumbai event, Aamir Khan, known for his role in Lagaan, shared his personal take on being romantic. “Actually, main bohot romantic aadmi hoon, maa kasam, bohot romantic hoon. Bhot funny lagta hai yeh bolte huye par aap meri dono biwiyon se puch sakte hai (I’m very romantic, it may sound funny to you, but ask both my wives),” he said. He further explained that he is deeply invested in the idea of true love, emphasizing that all his favorite films are romantic. “I am a real believer in true love,” he added.

Love evolves with age

Reflecting on how love changes as we grow older, Aamir said, “As we grow in life, our definition and understanding of love evolves. When you’re 18, there’s a different kind of energy and emotion. But as you get older, you start understanding life, people, and yourself better.”

The actor also opened up about the mistakes he’s made in his personal life. “Most of the mistakes are made by us, but we feel it's always the other person’s fault. We can’t always see inside ourselves. For me, it’s been a journey of self-reflection,” he added. “In these years, I’ve understood my flaws, my mistakes, and have tried to correct them.”

For Aamir, love is about finding a soulmate

Aamir went on to describe his current understanding of love: "For me, today, the meaning of love is to find someone who is your soulmate, someone you feel comfortable with, and who gives you the feeling that you've reached your destination in life." He concluded, "When I find a person with whom I’m organically connected, that’s when I know love is real."

The romantic entertainer Loveyapa, starring Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor, is set to release on 7 February 2025. The film, which promises to explore the theme of love, is eagerly awaited by audiences.
