'Salaar' star set to feature in Mohanlal's 'L2: Empuraan' | Details inside

Kaarthikeyaa Dev, known for portraying Varadaraja Mannar's younger days in Prabhas starrer 'Salaar', has joined the cast of Mohanlal's 'L2: Empuraan', the sequel to the superhit movie 'Lucifer'. He confirmed his role in the film via an Instagram story. Currently, 'Empuraan' is being filmed in Gujarat.
Dev gained significant attention for his performance in 'Salaar', where he depicted the younger version of Prithviraj's character, Varadaraja Mannar.
Speculations abound regarding the youngster's role in 'Empuraan', with reports suggesting he will portray the youth of Saeed Masood, the notorious gangster played by Prithviraj Sukumaran, who is also the director of the film.
Meanwhile, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Shine Tom Chacko are also part of the project. The film is produced by Antony Perumbavoor and leading production house Aashirvad Cinemas. Murali Gopi is handling the story and screenplay.
The movie also features returning cast members from 'Lucifer', including Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Sai Kumar, Baiju Santosh, Saniya Iyappan, and Sachin Khedekar.
The movie "Lucifer" was released worldwide in 2019 and set numerous box office records for a Malayalam film. It surpassed the Rs 50 crore mark in four days, the Rs 100 crore mark in eight days, and the Rs 150 crore mark in 21 days, making it the fastest Malayalam film to achieve all three milestones. Lucifer also became the first Malayalam movie to earn over Rs 200 crore, including revenue from box office collections, satellite rights, and digital streaming rights in other languages.
