‘Kantara’ song row: Composer quizzed by Kozhikode police

Kozhikode: The interrogation of the music director of ‘Kantara’ in relation to the copyright infringement case over the film’s track "Varaha Roopam" was completed on Saturday.
As directed by the high court, composer B Ajaneesh Loknath appeared before the sub inspector at Kozhikode Town police station. Earlier, the court had asked Loknath to appear for questioning on Friday and Saturday.
On Saturday, the interrogation came to a close. However, Loknath has been asked by the police to appear again if necessary.
According to the complaint, the orchestral arrangement of the song ‘“Varaha Roopam” has been plagiarised from the song ‘Navarasam’ by Keraa-based band Thaikkudam Bridge. The copyrights of ‘Navarasam’ lies with ‘Mathrubhumi’.
Rishab Shetty’s ‘Kantara’ produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the banner of Hombale Films narrates a storyline based on a coastal hamlet in Karnataka and a ritualistic artform prevalent there.
