'Can't bear the loss': Suresh Gopi, Ramesh Pisharody, Mamukkoya, others grieve Subi’s death

Expressing condolences over the demise of Subi Suresh, former MP and actor Suresh Gopi said that he had intervened to expedite the liver transplant of the actress, but could not avoid the tragedy. 

“If someone asks me to name Kalpana’s sister, then I would name Subi as one among a few other artists. I still cannot come to terms with the loss,” he said. 

“We tried to avoid her death as much as possible. Several people, including Ernakulam collector Renu Raj, Guinness Pakru, Tini Tom, Nadirshah, were with us,” he added. 

Several actors and comedians from the Malayalam film industry have grieved over the untimely death of Subi Suresh. 

Remembering Subi as a sincere artist, actor-director Ramesh Pisharody said, “Subi is one of the artists with whom I have done the most number of shows. She was a very sincere person who lived for her family and was ready to do shows all 365 days a year.”

“Subi was the synonym for energy. We have seen only her smiling face. Although she had told me about her illness, I never expected to lose her this soon. I still can’t bear the news of her demise,” said make-up artist Renju Renjimar. 

Saying that he and his family were saddened by the news of Subi’s death, veteran actor Mamukkoya added, "There are not many women doing comedy roles in Malayalam (movies). However, Subi was a leading face in terms of performing humorous characters. Her demise is a huge loss for the industry.”

Subi Suresh passed away here on Wednesday while undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments at a private hospital in Kochi. 

She made her debut through television programmes and made quite a mark as a comedian. She also excelled as an actor in the Malayalam film industry.

Subi started her career through Cochin Kalabhavan. She was also a well-known stage comedy show performer.
