Ustad Zakir Hussain, 73, passed away at a hospital in San Francisco due to complications from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Hussain, the son of the legendary tabla master Ustad Alla Rakha, is survived by his wife, Antonia Minnecola, and daughters, Anisa Qureshi and Isabella Qureshi.

Regarded as one of the greatest tabla players of his generation, Hussain was an iconic figure in Indian classical music. His contribution to music spanned decades and earned him numerous accolades, including four Grammy Awards, the Padma Shri in 1988, the Padma Bhushan in 2002, and the Padma Vibhushan in 2023.

His death has left the music world in mourning, but his viral video has once again brought attention to his legacy, reminding fans and followers of the unique blend of spiritual devotion and musical excellence that defined his life and career.
