Singer Sujatha Mohan has opened up about her long absence from live concert stages. She revealed that she has not performed live for nearly five years due to certain issues with her throat and voice. Sujatha shared these details during a recent Tamil awards ceremony.

The veteran singer added that she continues her vocal practice diligently, dedicating two to three hours every day to it. "I haven’t sung on a live stage for the last five years. This is because of some issues with my throat and voice. But I am not ready to give up. I set aside two or three hours daily for practice," Sujatha said.

Over a career spanning five decades, Sujatha has recorded more than 20,000 songs across various languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Her legendary discography includes hits such as Pudhu Vellai Mazhai, Nenjukkul Peidhidum and Malarkale Malarkale.

Her last playback contribution in Malayalam was for the 2023 film Pappachan Olivilanu.
