Diljit Dosanjh opens up about failed Bihar concert plans; here's what happened

Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh has opened up about why his concert plans in Bihar failed to materialise, revealing that disagreements over crowd management responsibilities prevented the event from going ahead. The singer said the authorities expected his team to take charge of handling the audience, but he maintained that ensuring public safety and managing large crowds should be the administration's responsibility.
Diljit shared the details during an Instagram Live session following his performance in Delhi on October 30. Responding to a fan who asked whether he would bring his ongoing AURA Tour to Bihar, the singer recalled that attempts to organise a show in the state had been made previously but did not succeed.
Diljit Dosanjh on why Bihar concert did not happen
Explaining the circumstances behind the unsuccessful plans, Diljit said the authorities had raised concerns about their ability to manage the large audience expected at the concert. He added that they had asked whether he and his team would assume responsibility for crowd management, a proposal he was unwilling to accept.
"We tried to go to Bihar; we had attempted to go to Bihar last time as well. But they said it was difficult to manage the crowd. They asked if we would take responsibility for it. I said that we couldn’t; they would have to take that responsibility.
Since they didn’t, we couldn’t go."
The singer stressed that managing an audience at a concert of this scale involved considerable planning and logistical arrangements. He said the challenges could be comparable to those associated with staging a major performance in Delhi.
“You see, it’s difficult to manage the crowd. It’s not just a small gathering; it’s a massive crowd. I had to consider the logistics; it’s like organising an event in Delhi," said Diljit Dosanjh.
His remarks indicate that crowd management concerns were a key factor behind Bihar not featuring on his recent concert schedules.
Diljit says people tried to stop his Delhi concert
The Instagram Live interaction also saw Diljit speak about the difficulties he encountered while organising his Delhi performance. The singer claimed that several people had made efforts to prevent the concert from taking place, although the event eventually went ahead.
“I even had a direct word with God about this! I spoke to Him over the phone. I told Him, ‘There’s a show coming up…’ Some people really tried hard to make sure the show wouldn’t happen!"
He also spoke about the possibility of rain disrupting the Delhi show and hoped the weather would remain favourable throughout the performance. Thanking his fans for their support, Diljit said he preferred to focus on his audience rather than engage with those criticising him.
“May God hold back the rain for three to four hours. Love my fans! I don’t bother responding to what many people say because I don’t consider them worth my time. Don’t you worry, we’re going to absolutely crush it," he said.
Delhi concert faced security-related hurdles
Diljit's comments came after his AURA India Tour 2026 opened with a performance at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in New Delhi on October 30. However, the concert had encountered uncertainty before receiving the necessary clearance.
Delhi Police had initially refused permission for the event, citing security concerns amid the festive season. The development caused disappointment among fans, many of whom had already booked their tickets.
The organisers subsequently submitted additional security arrangements to address the authorities' concerns. The proposed measures included provisions for traffic management and crowd control. Following these steps, the concert received approval and took place as scheduled.
