AR Rahman’s ‘Periyone’ from 'Aadujeevitham' wins Hollywood Music in Media Award

Musical maestro AR Rahman have won the prestigious 2024 Hollywood Music in Media Award for his work in the Malayalam film 'Aadujeevitham', directed by Blessy. The film was honored in the category of Best Original Score for a Foreign Language Independent Film.
Blessy accepted the award on behalf of AR Rahman at the ceremony in Los Angeles, celebrating the remarkable achievement of the film's musical composition.
Widely regarded as a precursor to the Oscars, the Hollywood Music in Media Award honours exceptional contributions to original music across various visual media. AR Rahman received international recognition for the song ‘Periyone’, a standout highlight from ‘Aadujeevitham’. The song, penned by Rafeeq Ahammed and performed by Jithin Raj, competed in the Feature Film Song category.
Other contenders in this category included Challengers, Emilia Perez, Better Man, Twisters, The Idea of You, The Six Triple Eight, and Blitz. The Hollywood Music in Media Academy presents these awards to celebrate original music across films, TV, video games, trailers, advertisements, documentaries, and special events.
Directed by Blessy and starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, ‘Aadujeevitham’ marked AR Rahman’s celebrated return to Malayalam cinema. While all the songs from the movie were widely loved, ‘Periyone’, sung by Jithin Raj, has found a special place in the hearts of audiences. This achievement sets a new benchmark for Malayalam music, as ‘Periyone’ claims a victory that no other Malayalam song has reached before.
