‘Do not respond’: Tovino Thomas warns fans after someone uses his name to send fake emails

Mollywood actor Tovino Thomas has asked fans and industry contacts to be careful after discovering that someone is allegedly using his name to send emails to people.

The actor took to Instagram Stories on Monday to flag the issue and shared the email address being used by the person impersonating him. Tovino made it clear that he has no connection with the account and has not authorised anyone to contact others on his behalf through it.

Sharing the alert, Tovino wrote, “Please be informed that someone is impersonating me and falsely using my identity to send emails to multiple people. The emails are being sent from the following address: Etovinothomas79@gmail.com.”

He then clarified that the address does not belong to him.

“Please note that this email address is not associated with me, and I have not authorised anyone to communicate on my behalf using this address.”

The actor also urged people who receive messages from the account not to engage with the sender or share any sensitive information.

“I strongly request everyone to not respond, share any personal information, click on links, make payments, or act upon any requests received from this email ID. If you receive an email from this address, please report it as spam/phishing and delete it immediately.”

Tovino further asked his followers to pass the warning on to anyone who may have received such messages.

“Kindly share this information with anyone who may have received such emails so that they do not fall victim to this impersonation. Please stay alert and verify the source before responding to any communication claiming to be from me. Thank you for your understanding and support.”

Meanwhile, Tovino has an interesting project lined up with filmmaker Johnpaul George, nearly a decade after their acclaimed collaboration ‘Guppy’. The two have teased their reunion alongside actor Chethan Jayalal, who was also part of ‘Guppy’. The project is reportedly expected to be the biggest-budget film of both Tovino and Johnpaul George's careers.

The reunion announcement came as ‘Guppy’ marked 10 years since its release. The 2016 film, which featured Tovino and Chethan, has gone on to develop a strong following over the years.

Tovino also has ‘Lokah Chapter 2’ in the pipeline. Directed by Dominic Arun, the sequel follows the world established by ‘Lokah Chapter One: Chandra’, with Tovino returning as Chathan. The actor had earlier described the project as one of the biggest challenges of his career, revealing that he would be seen in multiple versions of the character.

He was most recently seen in ‘Khalifa’, directed by Vysakh. Tovino appears as Iver Alexander, a character introduced towards the end of the film. The makers have already announced ‘Khalifa 2: The Legacy’, with Tovino set to return alongside Mohanlal, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Soubin Shahir.
