‘She's my best friend’: Inside Nimish Ravi and Ahaana Krishna's creative partnership
Twice in the interview, unprompted, Nimish Ravi described Ahaana Krishna the same way, his best friend. Not muse, not collaborator-first, best friend, first and repeatedly.
It shows up first when he's explaining why he can't work the way she does. Ahaana's travel vlogging, he says, is instinctive and unplanned, she sees a moment, like a kid jumping around, and just captures it. "I cannot do that," Nimish admits. "I am this person who wants to set everything up."
He's not being modest about the gap, he genuinely watches her spontaneity the way one craftsperson studies a completely different discipline.

Ahaana, he says, doesn't even think of her vlogging as work. "She's trying to tastefully capture her life. That's what she's trying to do." Her own explanation, as he recounts it, is disarmingly simple, she films for herself, for the version of her that wants to look back in twenty years. He thinks that's exactly why people connect with it. "She's not trying to be pretentious in that way."
But the ‘best friend’ framing goes deeper than admiration for her style. It's how he describes the origin of their two music video collaborations, ‘Tonnal’ and ‘Pookal’. The ideas didn't come from a pitch meeting, they came from years of just talking. "She's my best friend also," he says. "So we talk about this... it came very long back before we did the music video. We had the idea for a while, and we keep brewing it." When his film schedule allows a gap, they use it.
He's equally clear that when Ahaana is directing, the friendship doesn't loosen the discipline, if anything, the opposite. "She's very meticulous as a director," he says, noting she pre-plans every shot in a way he isn't sure even his regular collaborators do, and that she's equally exacting as a producer, since she's funding the projects herself.
What comes through, across every mention, isn't a single dramatic anecdote, it's consistency. The Iceland trip where they watched the Aurora together for the first time.
Two independently made, low-revenue music videos kept alive purely ‘out of passion.’ Years of an idea just ‘brewing’ between them until the timing was right. Taken individually, they're small details. Taken together, from a man who otherwise keeps his professional answers guarded and non-committal, they paint the picture of a bond he clearly doesn't feel the need to downplay.

Nimish Ravi and Ahaana Krishna got married on 13 September 2026, with Nimish sharing the news on Instagram with a caption that reframed every answer he gave us: "My best friend, now my wife. ❤️"
Ahaana's own post went further, tracing the relationship back a decade, "Met you at 20, Married you at 30! My Best Friend, Boy Friend, Partner, Soul-Mate, Comfort Pillow, Cup Cake and now Husband!" before closing with the date that's now etched into both their timelines: 13.09.2026.
The internet, in hindsight, had already called it. Long before either of them said a word about marriage, comments under the interview video were filled with viewers calling out the very language Nimish used throughout this conversation, telling him to 'stop calling her best friend' when it was obvious, to them, that it was more.
Fair enough, but maybe that's exactly it. Nimish has spent his career letting a story build slowly into its most beautiful version, on camera, and now, it turns out, off it too. The ‘best friend’ became the ‘wife’ the same way his best frames come together, kept out of sight until it was ready to be seen.
