Mohanlal teams up with Anoop Sathyan for first time; 'L368' goes on floors

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has begun filming his upcoming project, tentatively titled 'L368', marking his first collaboration with filmmaker Anoop Sathyan. The film went on floors with a traditional pooja ceremony in Kochi on Friday. 

Mohanlal shared photographs from the launch ceremony on X, captioning the post, “#L368 Pooja Ceremony.” Dressed in a white shirt and black trousers, the actor was seen posing with a clapperboard alongside members of the film's crew. Director Sathyan Anthikad, Tovino Thomas and Antony Varghese Pepe were also present at the event.

The makers marked the beginning of production with an illustrated poster featuring Mohanlal seated between two young girls on a beach. The artwork, which incorporates colourful paper swans, also shows the girls communicating through sign language, offering an early glimpse into the film's visual world.

Mohanlal and Mukesh reunite for 'L368'

One of the notable aspects of the project is the reunion of Mohanlal and Mukesh, who have appeared together in several popular Malayalam films over the years. Their collaboration is among the highlights of the upcoming film.

According to reports, the ensemble cast also includes Aju Varghese, Rajesh Madhavan, Eva Thennal and Sangeeth Prathap. Three theatre artistes from Maharashtra and Karnataka are also part of the project.

Presented by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner, 'L368' is produced by Binu George Alexander. Anoop Sathyan is handling the writing, direction and editing of the film.

Anoop Sathyan's second directorial venture

'L368' marks Anoop Sathyan's return to feature filmmaking after his directorial debut, 'Varane Avashyamund' (2020), which starred Dulquer Salmaan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Suresh Gopi and Shobana.

The upcoming film is also his first association with Mohanlal. Following the initial schedule in Kochi, the production is expected to move to Idukki, Mangaluru and other locations across Karnataka.

Mohanlal's upcoming films

Mohanlal was last seen in the Malayalam crime drama 'Drishyam 3', which is currently available to stream on Prime Video. He also made a cameo appearance in Rajinikanth's 'Jailer 2', directed by Nelson Dilipkumar.

The actor's upcoming projects include 'Athimanoharam', directed by Tharun Moorthy and co-starring Meera Jasmine. The film is scheduled to reach theatres on 24 December 2026. Its first single, 'Sundara Ravanan', was released on 1 November.

His other projects include 'Operation Ganga', directed by Vishnu Mohan, which features Arjun Rampal, Bhagyashri Borse, Adil Hussain, R. Parthiban and Aju Varghese. Mohanlal is also associated with several projects involving filmmakers such as Dileesh Pothan, Priyadarshan, Sathyan Anthikad, Jude Anthany Joseph and Jeethu Joseph.
