Siju's stance was that Panchavalsara Padhathi is a movie every Malayali must watch: Director Premlal

The latest offering from state film award winner P G Premlal, 'Panchavalsara Padhathi', featuring Siju Wilson, has hit theatres with a powerful narrative. Penned by Sajeev Pazhoor, the film stars Krishnendu A. Menon, P.P. Kunjikrishnan, Nisha Sarangh, and Sudheesh in pivotal roles. Director Premlal shares insights into the making of 'Panchavalsara Padhathi'.
Actor Siju Wilson's stand
The inception of 'Panchavalsara Padhathi' came about when Sajeev Pazhur shared its storyline with me. Upon hearing it, I was convinced of its relevance in contemporary India and its resonance with societal and political realities. Our aim was to deliver this message with a touch of satire, while keeping it grounded in realism.
Siju Wilson came on board after reviewing the initial script draft. His prompt agreement to the project reflects the nuanced politics even within an actor's role selection. His assertion that every Malayalee should watch this film is a testament to his conviction. Siju Wilson's involvement stands as a significant contribution to the film.
Filming in remote, rugged terrains posed challenges, with shoots even disrupted by a tiger's presence. Securing permissions for shooting was another hurdle.
An unfamiliar narrative for Malayalees
The film's narrative required unique artistic approaches. Constructing a 35-foot statue atop a mountain, along with capturing its aftermath, demanded innovative filmmaking. Producer K G Anilkumar swiftly came on board after hearing the script.
'Panchavalsara Padhathi' introduces Malayalee audiences to an unfamiliar theme. It encourages self-reflection, urging viewers to engage critically with societal issues.
While employing satire, the film maintains a connection to relatable Malayalee contexts, ensuring the seriousness of its themes isn't lost. Grounded in realism, it features authentic characters and storylines.
Renowned actor Sreenivasan endorsed the film, recognizing its narrative significance. Currently collaborating on a project with him, I find his perspective invaluable. Our upcoming film, written by Sreenivasan, delves into youth perspectives, infused with humour within a familial setting.
Smaller films take time to gain popularity among star-studded films
In Malayalam cinema, we are on a stage where, with star actors, you can attempt anything new. There would be people watching it. The film will have bookings even before its release. Amidst those films, smaller films may take time to get popular. People will come to the theatre only after receiving opinions and comments from other people who have watched it.
