Christopher Nolan’s blockbuster epic ‘The Odyssey’ has set another major box office record, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.

According to Variety, the film has earned $1.352 billion worldwide, surpassing the previous record held by 2024’s ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, which grossed $1.338 billion.

‘The Odyssey’ opened in cinemas on July 17 and made an impressive $123 million in its domestic opening weekend. It has since grossed $516 million in North America, while its international earnings have reached $835 million.

‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ star Ryan Reynolds celebrated the achievement on social media, congratulating the cast and crew of the Christopher Nolan film. "Congratulations to the entire cast and crew of The Odyssey for becoming the highest grossing R-rated movie of all time. That is one helluva car."

The latest milestone comes just days after ‘The Odyssey’ became the highest-grossing film of Nolan’s career.

The epic has also emerged as the highest-grossing film of the careers of its stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson and Tom Holland.

Based on Homer’s ancient Greek epic poem The Odyssey, the film follows King Odysseus, played by Damon, as he embarks on a perilous journey back to Ithaca following the Trojan War. Along the way, he encounters mythical creatures and other dangers as he attempts to reunite with his wife Penelope, played by Hathaway, and their son Telemachus, portrayed by Holland.

The star-studded cast also includes Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Mia Goth, Corey Hawkins, Jon Bernthal, Samantha Morton, Travis Scott and Benny Safdie.
