‘I’m not always flawless’: Sara Arjun gets real about beauty and self-care

Actor Sara Arjun, known for her role as Yalina Jamali in the 'Dhurandhar' franchise, has spoken about her approach to beauty, self-care and fashion, stressing that people should prioritise what works for them instead of striving for perfection.
In an interview with ANI, Sara acknowledged that maintaining a flawless appearance at all times is unrealistic, highlighting the role of professional stylists and makeup artists in creating her looks. She also shared that comfort remains a key consideration when choosing what to wear, adding that her personal style is still evolving.
The actor's remarks came after she made her runway debut at Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI on Friday, marking her first appearance at the fashion event.
Sara Arjun on beauty and self-care
Discussing the effort behind her appearance, Sara credited the professionals who help her get ready, while pointing out that her public appearances do not necessarily reflect her everyday look.
“First of all, I think a lot of it goes into having my hairstylist, makeup artist and stylist. So, I don’t look this gorgeous all the time, and I’m not always flawless!” she told ANI.
The actor also encouraged people to adopt beauty routines that suit their individual needs rather than follow a universal standard. She said that while hair care and beauty are often discussed, nobody can maintain perfection constantly.
“I know we stand here and talk about taking care of our hair and beauty, but none of us is perfect all the time. I think that’s what I’m trying to say: everybody should do what’s right for them,” Sara said.
Her comments highlighted the importance of approaching personal care in a way that feels appropriate to each individual, rather than feeling pressured to meet a particular beauty ideal.
Sara Arjun says comfort comes first in fashion
Despite gaining attention for her fashion choices, Sara said she has not settled on a single style that defines her. Instead, she prefers to experiment and allow her preferences to change.
Asked about her lifestyle and personal fashion choices, the actor told ANI, “I think I’m still figuring that out. I’m very fluid when it comes to dressing up, and usually, comfort is what I look for.”
Her response reflected a relaxed approach to dressing, with comfort taking precedence over adhering to a fixed aesthetic.
Sara Arjun makes runway debut at Lakme Fashion Week
Sara stepped onto the runway for the first time at Lakme Fashion Week x FDCI, turning showstopper for the Lakme Salon X Anushree Reddy collaboration. The showcase took place at the Taj Palace in New Delhi, where she presented a look from Anushree Reddy's MAYA fall bridal collection.
The actor wore a powder-blue bridal couture gown featuring detailed white embroidery, a structured peplum and a dramatic mermaid hem. The design offered a romantic, fairytale-inspired take on bridal wear, moving away from the traditional red-and-gold colour palette.
Reflecting on her debut, Sara said the experience closely matched the vision she had imagined for her first fashion week appearance.
“You know, I always had a picture in my head of what my first time would look like, and very coincidentally, it aligns a lot with how it is today,” she said.
She also expressed her appreciation for the gown's design, particularly its colour, silhouette and structure.
“I was very happy to see this outfit. I really like the silhouette, the structure and the colour. It’s very me; it reflects who I am. So, yeah, I was very happy to see it.”
The runway presentation featured models walking to live bridal tracks performed by the Nankhathai band, creating an atmosphere inspired by Indian wedding celebrations.
