Abhishek Pathak on ‘Drishyam The Conclusion’ Climax: ‘I went through fan theories on Reddit’

With ‘Drishyam The Conclusion’ being positioned as the final chapter of the popular family crime thriller franchise, anticipation around the conclusion of Vijay Salgaonkar’s story has intensified. With SP Crime Branch officers Rajveer Singh Tomar and Meera Deshmukh pursuing Vijay, the stakes are higher than ever as he attempts to protect everything he has fought for.

Director and writer Abhishek Pathak has revealed that the team studied fan theories while working on the climax, but deliberately avoided taking the story in directions that audiences had already anticipated.

“I actually went through a lot of fan theories on Reddit and the Internet. We were like, ‘Four people are talking about this, five people are talking about that... so it cannot happen.’ We were trying to stay away from the obvious, and come with something that people weren't expecting at all."

Pathak said the team also took measures to keep crucial details away from even several members of the crew while putting the film together. Explaining how the final portions were developed during the editing process, he said the team initially completed the film and returned for around 10 days of pending shoots. During this phase, voice-overs were recorded and incorporated into the edit to refine the narrative and control how information was revealed.

“We shot the film, came on the edit, and there was maybe a 10-day shoot pending. In the pending shoot, we actually recorded voice-overs and put everything on the edit to make it better... to hide information and reveal certain things in a way that people enjoy it much better.”

Pathak also offered a brief indication of what audiences can expect from the climax, stressing the importance of keeping the central reveal concealed for as long as possible.

“The climax is the real (star of the) show, If the big reveal can be held for as long as possible, that's the best thing."

The film brings back Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Shriya Saran, alongside Rajat Kapoor, Jaideep Ahlawat, Prakash Raj, Kamlesh Sawant, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav, among others.

‘Drishyam The Conclusion’ is scheduled to arrive in theatres on October 2, 2026.
