Actor-host Akshay Kumar recently encouraged a contestant to consider Alleppey’s backwaters in Kerala as a honeymoon destination, drawing from his personal experience while shooting for his upcoming film 'Bhooth Bangla'.

The interaction took place during an episode of Wheel of Fortune India, where contestant Harshit, a financial consultant from Faridabad, spoke openly about his strategy on the show.

He revealed that he had already spent significantly on his wedding and was hoping to use his winnings to fund his honeymoon.

Intrigued by his candid approach, Akshay engaged Harshit in a series of hypothetical scenarios, asking how he would plan his honeymoon based on different prize amounts.

When asked what he would do with a modest sum of Rs 7,000, Harshit replied that he would opt for a trip to Lonavala. However, when the amount increased to over Rs 2 lakh, he said he would consider travelling abroad, naming Vietnam and Thailand as options.

Responding to this, Akshay delivered a humorous remark, saying, “Vietnam, main samajh sakta hoon lekin Thailand kaun jaata hai? Bete Thailand akele jaate hain.” The comment drew laughter on set, before the actor steered the conversation towards promoting domestic travel.

Akshay then suggested that Harshit explore India instead, highlighting the unique appeal of Kerala. Recalling his time filming for 'Bhooth Bangla', he said the experience of visiting Alleppey’s backwaters left a strong impression on him.

“Tu bahar jaana chahta hai, lekin mujhe lagta hai tujhe India ghoomna chahiye… Kerala ke backwaters bohot acche lage,” he said, recommending the destination for its scenic beauty and tranquil atmosphere.

The exchange underscored a broader message of choosing local destinations over international travel, with Akshay pointing to Kerala’s landscapes and cultural richness as ideal for a memorable honeymoon.
