Mushtaq Khan, known for 'Welcome' and 'Aashiqui' passes away at 66

Veteran actor Mushtaq Khan, known for his supporting and comic roles in several popular Hindi films, died on Thursday, September 24, following a prolonged battle with cancer. He was 66.

Khan had reportedly been undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital for around 15 days.

According to reports, he had first been diagnosed with cancer around five years ago, but the disease had recently returned and his health subsequently deteriorated.

His business partner Shivam confirmed his death. Khan reportedly died on Thursday after his condition worsened during his hospitalisation.

Khan had a long career in Hindi cinema and was particularly known for his supporting and comic performances. He appeared in several films that went on to become popular with audiences.

His notable film credits include 'Aashiqui' (1990), 'Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke' (1993), 'Welcome' (2007) and 'Mujhse Shaadi Karogi' (2004). He also featured in several other Hindi films and television projects during his career.

While Khan was rarely seen in lead roles, his supporting characters often added a comic element to films.

His appearance in 'Welcome' (2007), among his better-known performances, brought him further recognition among mainstream Hindi film audiences.

Khan's death comes after his recent hospitalisation and treatment for cancer. His demise was confirmed by his business partner, with reports of his death emerging on Thursday.

The actor's last rites are scheduled to be held on Friday, September 25.
