Chennai: After 33 years, Rajinikanth and Mani Ratnam are set to reunite for another film. It has been 33 years since the release of the blockbuster Tamil film ‘Thalapathi,’ which had sent the fans of superstar Rajinikanth into a frenzy. Directed by one of the most acclaimed filmmakers in the Tamil film industry, Mani Ratnam, the film featured a star-studded cast, including Mammootty, Aravind Swami, Amareesh Puri, Sreevidya, Sobhana, Bhanupriya, Manoj K Jayan, and Charuhasan, among others. The songs composed by another master, Ilayaraja, were also a hit and are still sung by many today.

Although the film was a massive success, the superstar and the master director could not collaborate again for nearly three decades after the release of ‘Thalapathi.’ However, the long wait is about to end, as it has been reported that the legendary director and the mass hero will reunite in an upcoming film after 30 years. The official announcement of the film is expected to be made on December 12, which is Rajinikanth's birthday.

In another star reunion, Mani Ratnam has collaborated with Kamal Haasan after 36 years since the release of ‘Nayakan,’ a film that received both critical and popular acclaim. The duo's new film, ‘Thug Life,’ is set to be released soon. This film boasts a rich cast that includes Joju George, Trisha, Abhirami, Aishwarya Lakshmi, Nazar, and Chimbu, in addition to Kamal Haasan.

‘Thug Life’ is jointly produced by Kamal Haasan's Rajkamal Films, Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies, and Udayanidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies. The character portrayed by Kamal Haasan is named Rangaraya Sakthivel. The music for the film is composed by A.R. Rahman, while Sreekar Prasad is responsible for the editing.
