Kollengode: The scenic Seetharkundu, located on the slopes of Thenmala, has now been developed into a full-fledged eco-tourism center. Visitors will no longer have to settle for just breathtaking views, as essential facilities have also been introduced for their comfort and safety.

The project, completed at a cost of around ₹75 lakh, includes construction of new basic amenities. An eco-shop selling forest products has also been set up, and protective iron fencing has been newly installed.

For years, Mathrubhumi had highlighted the lack of facilities and safety concerns faced by tourists at Seetharkundu. The eco-tourism center was officially inaugurated on Monday by MLA K Babu. Kollengode Grama Panchayat President K Sathyapal presided over the function.

From Tuesday onwards, visitors will be required to purchase entry tickets: ₹30 for adults, ₹20 for children, and ₹100 for foreigners. Camera passes are priced at ₹50, while video camera passes cost ₹150, according to the Forest Department.

Volunteers and staff under the department will be available at the site to assist tourists.
