Planning a budget-friendly holiday? Philippines now visa-free for Indian tourists

Indian tourists looking for a sunny, budget-friendly holiday have reason to cheer. Starting June 8, the Philippines will allow Indians to enter the country without a visa for tourism purposes. The move is aimed at boosting tourist arrivals from India, which rose by 12% in 2024 but still make up a small share of the country’s overall tourism numbers.
Under the new rule, Indian citizens can stay up to 14 days without a visa. Those who already hold valid visas or residence permits for countries like the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Schengen nations, or Singapore can stay up to 30 days.
Getting there is now easier
Adding to the convenience, Air India will start direct flights between Delhi and Manila from October 1, 2025. The airline will operate five flights a week using its Airbus A321neo aircraft. This makes Air India the only carrier offering non-stop travel between India and the Philippines.
Why choose the Philippines?
With the Indian rupee stronger than the Philippine peso (INR 1 = PHP 0.69), the Philippines is a great value-for-money destination. Daily costs for budget travellers range between ₹2,500 and ₹4,000, covering transport, food, lodging, and basic activities.
The country offers something for every kind of traveller. Boracay is known for its white sand beaches and nightlife. Palawan attracts nature lovers with its underground river and island hopping tours. Bohol, Cebu, and Siargao offer a mix of history, adventure, and scenic beauty. Manila and Davao bring in culture and wildlife, while Batanes and Sagada offer peace and quiet.
Travel tips for Indian visitors
Round-trip flights cost about ₹30,000. Budget rooms start at ₹1,238 per night. Street food is cheap and filling, and even a three-course meal at a mid-range restaurant costs only around ₹850. Local ferries are a good way to travel between islands, and tuk-tuks and buses are widely used in towns.
The best time to visit is from December to February. But if you're travelling off-season (June to October), you’ll find better deals on flights and stays.
