Kayaking through the summer: Kudumbashree venture in Alappuzha a superhit!

Neelamperoor: A unique blend of curiosity and celebration is drawing crowds to a new water tourism venture launched by members of the Kudumbashree Mission near the Valady-Mulakkamthuruthy Bridge in Neelamperoor. The initiative, which offers an exciting mix of kayaking, pedal boating, and traditional Kottavanchi rides, is gaining popularity among visitors of all ages.

Set against the scenic backdrop of water-filled paddy fields, the project ensures safety with life jackets and other precautions provided by the Kudumbashree team. The tourism initiative is spearheaded by members from three Kudumbashree units in Ward 7 of the Neelamperoor Panchayat — Sandhya Manoj, Sherly Rajendran, Sarasamma Baby, Molly Rajendran, and Maniyamma Vinod.

Operating hours are from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM daily. With the onset of school holidays, hundreds of visitors, including children, are flocking to the site to enjoy the refreshing rides. Previously held in the canal at Payattupakka, the project was relocated due to various accumulations in the earlier venue.

The rides are affordably priced, according to Kudumbashree workers. The project is being implemented as part of the Rebuild Kerala initiative, with the support of the Neelamperoor Panchayat and the Kudumbashree Mission.
