Bengaluru: Malayalis in Bengaluru heading home for Onam will have 90 additional bus services to choose from this year, with the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) announcing special services to Kerala from August 21 to 25.

The special services have been planned ahead of Thiruvonam, which falls on August 26. Buses will operate from Bengaluru to major destinations in Kerala, including Kozhikode, Kannur, Ernakulam, Palakkad, Thrissur, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram.

KSRTC will also operate special buses on August 30 from various parts of Kerala to Bengaluru for passengers returning after the Onam celebrations.

Premium buses among special services

Passengers travelling home for Onam will have the option of using KSRTC's premium services, including Rajahamsa, Airavat, Ambari and Pallakki buses. Air-conditioned buses will also be part of the special services.

The premium services will operate from the Shanthi Nagar Bus Stand in Bengaluru, according to KSRTC officials.

The additional services during festivals such as Onam, Vishu, Christmas and Easter are particularly useful for passengers travelling between Bengaluru and Kerala during peak periods.

Advance booking and ticket discounts

Passengers can book tickets in advance through KSRTC's online booking facility. Tickets can also be booked at booking centres in Kerala.

KSRTC is offering a 5% discount when four or more tickets are booked together. Passengers booking return tickets along with their onward journey will also be eligible for a discount, according to the information provided by the transport corporation.
