With the 75th Miss Universe competition approaching, attention is turning to Puerto Rico. The pageant will include a series of cultural and community engagements before the competition nights begin. Here is a day-by-day guide to the schedule.
If you only have room for a few entries on your calendar, the Miss Universe Organization has locked in the three that matter most:

  • November 21: National Costume Extravaganza
  • November 22: Preliminary Competition
  • November 24: Coronation Night

Everything else below is the colorful run-up, much of it announced by Puerto Rico’s tourism officials. Details may grow as organisers release more information.

Week one: Touchdown and settling in (from November 8)

The suitcases start rolling in on November 8. Delegates will gather on the island and spend the first stretch on arrivals, rehearsals, group activities, and getting their bearings in their host destination. It is also when they meet the women they will be competing alongside and begin carrying their home countries’ flags on a global stage.

Behind the scenes, national franchises are still sorting out travel plans and paperwork, so expect the final headcount, currently pegged at up to 120, to settle closer to the date.

Week two: The island tour with a purpose (November 11 to 17)

Before the pageant turns competitive, the contestants take a lap around Puerto Rico. The itinerary blends sightseeing with service:

November 11, Aguadilla
A cultural event with music and entertainment opens the public schedule.

November 14, Ponce
Titled Luz de Esperanza: Universo Rosa en Puerto Rico, this gathering pairs delegates with cancer patients for an afternoon of shared stories and words of encouragement.

November 16, Guaynabo
The group heads to Parque Forestal La Marquesa to experience its natural setting and outdoor attractions.

November 17, Hato Rey
The final stop is SER de Puerto Rico, which supports people with disabilities and their families. Each delegate is asked to bring an item symbolising her homeland, and these pieces will later be sold at a charity auction.

Taken together, the week gives the contestants a chance to show their commitment to community work while introducing viewers worldwide to several corners of the island.

Showtime: The three nights that count

November 21: costumes take over the coliseum
The National Costume Extravaganza at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot is the evening many fans circle first. Contestants wear creations drawn from their nations’ history, myths, customs, architecture, wildlife, and sense of identity.

Where the evening gown round prizes polish and grace, this night rewards imagination, drama, and storytelling. Look for elaborate headpieces, striking accessories, and painstaking craftsmanship, which also spotlights the designers and artisans behind each look.

Although people often say “national costume parade,” the confirmed November 21 event is a staged competition inside the coliseum, and its official title is the National Costume Extravaganza.

November 22: The preliminary round
Just a day later, the women return to the stage for the Preliminary Competition, a key stop on the road to the crown. It features a swimsuit segment and an evening gown segment. The first showcases stage presence, confidence, and presentation. The second highlights composure, elegance, and personal style.

Delegates use the night to make an impression on the selection committee, whose assessments help determine who moves forward. With such a deep field, it is likely to be among the most closely followed nights of the entire event.

November 24: Crowning the 75th Miss Universe
The grand finale returns to the same coliseum in San Juan, gathering contestants, international supporters, pageant personalities, and special guests under one roof.

Two details are worth knowing before you settle in. First, fans have a direct say this year: the contestant with the most official fan votes earns a guaranteed spot among the Top 30 semifinalists.

Second, the production has been refreshed with a redesigned stage that features moving scenic elements, advanced lighting, three-dimensional graphics, and video technology, meant to give the anniversary show a changing visual backdrop.
