What to look forward to at Met Gala 2025
This year’s gala is historic for two key reasons:
It’s the first-ever gala focused exclusively on Black designers
It has a menswear-specific theme for the first time in over two decades
The dress code draws from Black dandyism across the Atlantic diaspora, inspired by the book Slaves to Fashion by Monica L. Miller. The Costume Institute’s spring exhibit, titled “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” explores 12 themes such as presence, freedom, disguise, and respectability.
