Diwali is here, and Rashmika Mandanna just lit it ip in midnight blue

You know Diwali has truly arrived when the crystals come out. Rashmika Mandanna has delivered one of the season’s first big sparkle moments. Taking a breather from the promotions of Ranabaali, the actor stepped out for Swarovski’s Diwali celebration, in a midnight-blue saree gown by Amit Aggarwal.
Rashmika has been the brand’s India face since August 2025, so a crystal-heavy entrance felt like a natural fit. The campaign itself is built around glowing diyas and the joy of dressing up, and she took that theme quite literally.

The centrepiece was a custom strapless corset with a plunging sweetheart neckline, cut close to the body and covered in thousands of shimmering crystals.
Below it came a Banarasi-inspired drape. The skirt was neatly pleated at the front, fell to the floor and followed the line of a classic saree. The pallu was reworked into a dupatta and looped over her arms, while hand embroidery along the borders added a traditional touch to an otherwise modern silhouette.
This hybrid is fast becoming a festive favourite. It keeps the drape and flow of the six yards while borrowing the structure and ease of a gown. It’s also very much Aggarwal’s territory, as he is known for futuristic, sculptural couture that reimagines the saree. Rashmika has worn his work before, including a black chiffon saree with a corded blouse during a film promotion. This crystal version feels lighter and more celebratory.
The jewellery stayed on theme, with Swarovski pieces layered in generous but balanced amounts, two necklaces, matching earrings, an ear chain, several cocktail rings, a dainty bracelet and a stylish watch. Her hair was left loose with a centre parting.

The glam kept things minimal, darkened brows, winged eyeliner, mascara-coated lashes, a glossy brown lip, rouge-tinted cheeks, a dewy base and a generous swipe of highlighter.
If you’re still deciding what to wear this festive season, take the hint. A saree with a gown’s ease and plenty of shimmer works equally well at a party and on a red carpet. Diwali dressing has well and truly begun.
