Celebrity designer Manish Malhotra is feeling nostalgic after dressing Janhvi Kapoor in a modern take on the classic Kanchipuram saree. Sharing a series of pictures of the actress on Instagram, the designer looked back on his early days working with Sridevi, recalling how a Malayalam film brought them together and shaped his appreciation for India's handloom traditions.

Posting photos of Janhvi in a pre-draped Kanchipuram weave brocade saree, Manish revealed that his love for traditional weaves began long before he entered the film industry.

He shared that as a child, he was fascinated by the handloom sarees his mother wore to weddings. The richness of Kanchipuram silks, the beauty of Pochampally weaves and seeing legendary actresses wear them on screen left a lasting impression on him.

That admiration only grew stronger when he worked with Sridevi on a Malayalam film in the early 1990s. Recalling those memories, Manish wrote that the actress introduced him to the culture surrounding these timeless textiles, and the two even went shopping together in Chennai.

Reflecting on dressing Janhvi, he wrote that seeing the young actress in the contemporary Kanchipuram ensemble reminded him of her mother. According to Manish, Janhvi carries forward Sridevi's legacy with grace, while the outfit blends a modern silhouette with the essence of the traditional weave.

The designer's post quickly drew attention from fans, many of whom admired both Janhvi's look and the heartfelt memories he shared about Sridevi.
