Anshula Kapoor's wedding to longtime partner Rohan Thakkar was a deeply emotional tribute to her late mother, Mona Shourie Kapoor. While many celebrity brides make headlines for their designer outfits, Anshula's bridal look stood out.

Sharing glimpses from her wedding on Instagram, Anshula said that there was only one thing she knew she wanted to wear as a bride, her mother's 42-year-old gold tissue and zardozi dupatta.

"There was only one thing I knew I wanted to carry with me when I became a bride - my mom's 42-year-old gold tissue & zardozi dupatta. Everything else was built around it," she wrote.

"On a day that marked the beginning of a new family, it felt right to be wrapped in the one that raised me first."

The sentimental heirloom became the foundation of her entire bridal ensemble. Designed by Tarun Tahiliani and styled by celebrity stylist Mohit Rai, the outfit was created around the vintage dupatta, blending heritage with contemporary couture.

Instead of opting for the traditional red bridal palette, Anshula chose a striking fuchsia and orange lehenga featuring intricate Kashida embroidery layered with rich zari work. The skirt was adorned with classic ambi (paisley), floral and foliate motifs, while Tahiliani's signature blouse featured a sweetheart neckline, fitted bodice and elegant elbow-length sleeves with delicate beadwork.

The bridal look also included multiple dupattas, each carrying a special meaning. Alongside her mother's treasured zardozi dupatta, Anshula wore a custom bandhani gharchola dupatta with a Phulkari border, symbolising the Gujarati family she was marrying into while also honouring her Punjabi roots.

Explaining the vision behind the ensemble, Mohit Rai said the mood board was never built around a colour or silhouette but around "legacy, love and continuity." He shared that the goal was to ensure Mona Kapoor's dupatta remained the emotional centrepiece while Tarun Tahiliani's craftsmanship helped create a timeless and deeply personal bridal look around it.

Anshula completed her wedding attire with jewellery from Jaipur-based label Raaniwala 1881, including layered necklaces, matching earrings, maang tikka and kadas. She also wore custom kaliras by designer Mrinalini Chandra and a traditional pink bridal chooda.

Adding to the emotional moment, brother Arjun Kapoor also shared a heartfelt note for Anshula, writing that she carries their mother with her every step of the way and reminding her that Mona would always be watching over and blessing her. A touching black-and-white portrait of Mona Kapoor was also placed near the wedding altar during the ceremony.

Anshula Kapoor and Rohan Thakkar, who first met through a dating app and got engaged in New York's Central Park last year, have now begun their new journey together with a wedding that beautifully balanced tradition, family legacy and timeless craftsmanship.
