Former OpenAI Co-founder Ilya Sutskever launches a new AI firm

San Francisco: Within a month of leaving ChatGPT, Ilya Sutskever, one of the co-founders of AI startup OpenAI, founded a new business named Safe Superintelligence Inc (SSI).
The Sam Altman-run startup saw Sutskever and Jan Leike depart in May of last year following a disagreement with OpenAI's leadership. Leike co-led the 'Superalignment' team at OpenAI.
Google and Amazon have invested in the competing AI startup Anthropic, where Leike currently leads a team.
Sutskever stated that "SSI is our mission, our name, and our entire product roadmap, because it is our sole focus" in a post on the social networking site X.
“We plan to advance capabilities as fast as possible while making sure our safety always remains ahead. This way, we can scale in peace,” read the post.
“Our singular focus means no distraction by management overhead or product cycles, and our business model means safety, security, and progress are all insulated from short-term commercial pressures,” it added.
A crack team of the top engineers and researchers in the world who are committed to SSI alone are being hired by the firm.
“If that’s you, we offer an opportunity to do your life’s work and help solve the most important technical challenge of our age,” said the company. IANS
