Thiruvananthapuram: The upcoming edition of the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL) will once again offer a unique platform for the youth to bring their ideas to the global stage. Participants will have a rare chance to share the stage with author, politician and diplomat Shashi Tharoor during a session titled ‘Tharoor Sabha’ at the festival.

The seventh season of Asia’s largest literary festival, featuring world-renowned figures in literature, culture and politics, will be held at Kanakakunnu Palace, Thiruvananthapuram, from January 29 to February 1.

This year’s competition, themed on whether social media should be restricted, invites young minds to explore the balance between freedom and responsibility in the digital age. Selected participants will have the opportunity not only to join Tharoor on stage but also to participate in panel discussions on related topics.

Over the years, MBIFL has spotlighted emerging young talent, offering them exposure to an international audience. Young adults aged 18 to 30 can submit a video of under one minute on the topic ‘Should social media be restricted’ via WhatsApp at 9446023855 before January 20. Only 14 participants, one from each district, will be selected to take part in the festival.

This is not just a discussion; it’s a platform where the world can hear your voice. For more information, contact 0484 2882201 (Monday to Saturday, 10 am to 5 pm).
