COVID-19 Vaccination: Misinformation continues to flood social media

Edappal: Even though the COVID-19 scare has long passed, there is no shortage of misinformation spread via social media platforms. 

For example, a misleading claim is that individuals who had received vaccination between the ages of 40 and 60 are more susceptible to heart attacks. Such false information is routinely disseminated on social media, prompting many people to seek medical advice. 

Another piece of misinformation is that people should get a D-Dimer test to see if they have any blood clots in any part of their body. Not all labs are equipped to do this test, and it could cost a person over a thousand rupees.

Dr R. Renuka, Malappuram District Medical Officer, stated that such a campaign, which has no scientific basis, is utterly unfounded. Dr. Subin, District Surveillance Officer, further opined that such misinformation will only help create panic among the general public.
