Thrissur: The book “Sivam Subham – The Biography of a Couple”, written by poet B.K. Harinarayanan on the life of musician MS Subbulakshmi and her husband, Thiagaraja Sadasivam, was released in Guruvayur on Tuesday, coinciding with Subbulakshmi’s 109th birth anniversary.

Guruvayur Devaswom Chairman VK Vijayan, musician Dr Sreevalsan J Menon, composer Bijibal, lyricist Shibu Chakravarthy, singer Sithara Krishnakumar, musician Sannidhanandan and Subbulakshmi’s grandson V Sreenivasan addressd the event.

The English-language book traces Subbulakshmi’s musical journey from her childhood. Following the launch, her granddaughters, S Aishwarya and S Saundarya, performed a concert in her memory.

In the Instagram post, the theme of the book was highlighted. “She was the voice that turned devotion into song. He was the guardian who nurtured that light, shaping its path so it could shine upon the world. Together, MS Subbulakshmi and T Sadasivam embodied a rare union where art became worship, and life itself became an offering.
With the sensitivity of a poet and the reverence of a devotee, BK Harinarayanan traces their divine journey from the temple streets of Madurai to the world's grandest stages, where MS Amma's voice rose like prayer, carried by the steadfast strength and vision of Sadasivam.
This book is not a mere chronicle of lives lived; it is a hymn of remembrance, a garland of words strung in reverence. It celebrates a couple whose love, discipline, and devotion transformed music into immortality, leaving behind a legacy that continues to echo like an eternal raga.”
