Fans of J K Rowling’s beloved Harry Potter series can look forward to an enchanting new project aimed at young readers. Bloomsbury Children's Books has announced the launch of Pocket Potters: Little Guides to the Harry Potter Stories, a new illustrated series designed to introduce the wizarding world to a fresh generation of fans.

The Pocket Potters series, set for release in August 2025, will start with three captivating books, each focused on a central character: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. The series will continue in 2026 and beyond, with additional titles dedicated to other beloved characters.

These small, illustrated guides are crafted for young readers aged 7 to 10, though older fans will undoubtedly find something to enjoy as well. The books aim to provide a fresh and accessible way to explore the magical world, packed with fun facts, memorable moments, and a mix of humorous insights from the Harry Potter universe.

Magical content, playful illustrations

Each Pocket Potters book will delve deep into the characters’ journeys, from magical spells and wizarding sports to fantastical creatures and memorable moments at Hogwarts. With vibrant illustrations and playful layouts, the series promises to bring the magic of the wizarding world to life, encouraging young readers to immerse themselves in the stories with ease.

Mandy Archer, Head of Harry Potter Publishing, shared her excitement for the project, saying, "After the extraordinary worldwide success of our official companion book, The Harry Potter Wizarding Almanac, it was wonderful to witness the joy readers took in seeing the wizarding world visualized in new and imaginative ways."

The Pocket Potters books will be illustrated by a talented group of international artists, each bringing their own unique style to the series. Natalie Smillie will bring Harry Potter’s magical journey to life, Olia Muza will capture the humour and chaos of Ron Weasley, and Laura Proietti will highlight Hermione Granger’s intelligence and bravery.

Looking ahead, the series will expand in 2026 with more character books, including a title dedicated to Professor Albus Dumbledore, illustrated by Paola Escobar.

Global launch

To celebrate the launch, Bloomsbury has planned a worldwide marketing campaign, including social media promotion, advertising, and special events like Harry Potter Book Day in October. The Pocket Potters series will be available in 25 languages, allowing it to connect with readers and fans across the globe.

In partnership with J.K. Rowling’s agents, The Blair Partnership, Bloomsbury has secured global rights to the series (excluding the USA), ensuring the magic of Pocket Potters will be shared with fans far and wide.
